It’s no secret that this year has been a struggle. I’ve been through paycuts and reorgs at work, through a ridiculous sequence of events - my brother and I haven’t spoken to my father and his wife in almost a year, I’ve experienced heartbreak and disappointment with the two attempts at relationships I’ve made - still single three years after the most significant relationship in my life. I was also slowly pushed out of a group of friends that I had worked to create in the last two years that were dear to me. Still to this day, some of them choose to say nasty things when I did absolutely nothing to deserve that kind of treatment. I’ve tried my best to bow out gracefully but the rejection at times, has been almost unbearable.

But there have been amazing things that have happened this year as well.

My younger brother is engaged to his lovely fiance, who is very dear to my heart. I was able to organize their engagement and am working on their wedding. We’ve become that much closer because of the falling out with my father. I’ve again found the happiness that comes with a clear mind on my bike and a new group of friends. Ones who appreciate and accept who I am - with all of my faults - and love me anyways. There is no drama - always sincere support and honesty. I don’t think I’ve ever laughed harder with a group of people and that feels good.
